Happy Atmosphere of Cairo Residents in Celebrating Mawleed Our Prophet Muhammad

Large crowds of Egyptian citizens attended the parade in the old city of Cairo celebrating the Mawleed of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), centered around Sayyidina Husein mosque the Prophet Muhammad grandson which is located directly across from AlAzhar Mosque.

The celebration was held with great enthusiasm, featuring the chanting of shalawat accompanied by the beat of rebana drums and qasidah praises. Besides that, the celebration become more lively with traditional sufi performances along with rows of banner displaying shalawat. Throughout the street stalls offered an Egyptian sugar-based sweets known as Halawat al-Mawleed which not only for sell but distributed also to public.  


At the same time, under the auspices of Grand Syaikh Al-Azhar mosque commemorates our Prophet Mawleed by featuring lectures, speech, and praises attended by Deputy of the Grand Syekh, religious leaders, and states official.  During his speech, Dr Abdul Fattah Al-Awari emphasized that Mawleed of Prophet represents a blessing for all humanity and in line with shariah which encourage exciting over it indicating from Quranic verses. In addition, he explain that this Egyptian celebration renews the commitment to the Prophetic Risalah and spreading values of compassion and peace.  


This celebrations are held regularly by the Egyptian every year, government also designates the 12th of Rabi’ al-Awwal as an official public holiday. This tradition serves as a way for the community to honor the mawleed of the Prophet Muhammad while also strengthening religious values and a sense of togetherness.
