11 pm happens twice tonight: Egypt’s clocks fall back as daylight savings time ends.

Basera.id- On 30 October 2025, Cairo experienced a time change phenomenon marking the end of summer season in the country, the clock went back one hour from 23:59 to 23:00 It doesn’t immediately continue to midnight 00:00 the next day. The shift was caused by the end of summer time implementation or universally known as Daylight Saving Time(DST) and returning to standard time.

In short, daylight saving time means adjusting the clocks one hour forward to extend daylight hours and delay nightfall, the main intention to increase daytime efficiency, productivity and save energy by reducing the need for artificial lighting such as lamp. This system also implemented in other countries where the duration of the day and night changes between season. Eventually this time adjustment ends with the transition to the next season that happens usually around October-November and return back to standard time by the clock moves back one hour causing 23:00 happens twice, which is happen tonight.

Egypt itself reinstated this system in 2023 after it had been suspended since 2016, the government scheduled the time shift for weekend to allow people to adjust gradually and minimize disruption to their busy weekday activities.

The impact of this change is the disturbance of daily schedules especially in sleep patterns and flight timetables. Besides that people also get excited by entering the winter after enduring high temperatures in the past few months.
